No this is not where we're staying but it is infamous for much more important reasons. The Lorraine Motel in Memphis near the corner of Butler & Mulberry is the assassination site of the great Martin Luther King Jr and has been turned into a museum for the Civil Rights movement. Several plans to pull it down and further "gentrify" the area have failed due to strong outcry and protest from the community. Let us hope the city of Memphis retains this site as an ongoing reminder of the injustice and racism that is not only an integral part of America's past but indeed that of Australia's. We head there today to pay respects and remember those who lost their lives in a bid for equality. Needless to say this battle continues.
