I used to get my road-crew to lug around a concert Leslie rotary speaker cabinet. There was nothing to compete with 360º of physical phase-shift to make an Organ sound magnificent. We all know the sound; we all love it. Damn huge and heavy devices Leslies, so the advent of rotary speaker effects has given organ players and engineers hope but the different processes available are varied. Years ago I bought the Line 6 POD 2.0 for guitar and I still love it as a pre-amp before my amplifiers when tracking. Hiding in the range of effects is the best Rotary speaker emulation I have heard and I'll hang on to the POD if for no other reason. Unlike most effects the POD makes noise like a Leslie even when there's no signal being processed - swirling away like the real deal. I pulled the POD out of the kids room where they've been doing their Guitar-God sessions and am using it yet again to re-amp the Organ parts for Robbie Bundle's album. Cooking the output with some rich Avalon Valve-Pre's on the way back in to create a little more harmonic distortion - LOVING IT still. Thanx Line 6.
