Late photographer Rennie Ellis was a huge contributor to the Melbourne band (and socialite) scene back in the late 80's. Strumpet was my original band, in it's very first incarnation: Ren Walters (gtr), Greg & Rick Tailby (drums & bass) with myself on vocals, trumpet and a bit of guitar. Through the archive of Rennie's work I have been able to locate three rolls of film he shot from both live shows and some publicity sets - oh what a blast. I will be purchasing these films in the new year as a wonderful means of archiving this original line-up, but from a deep web search I've managed to dig some up from the State Library collection. Obviously Rennie didn't keep great notes about his pix and the library has me named as "Dave from rock band Strumpet." That was actually Ren Walters' stage name: D.R. Splendid (no that's not Doctor, it's "David Rather Splendid"), Rick and Greg were "Rock & Grog Tallboy" whilst my stage name was "Chanile" - but that's another story!
